Providing surveying services has been, and continues to be, a large portion of Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc.’s business. Through selection and training of personnel and a program to obtain the best equipment available, we have developed a skilled and technically equipped Surveying Department, capable of conducting any type of survey. We are also qualified and certified by the State of Florida, Department of Natural Resources, for both horizontal and vertical control for Second Order, accuracy and by the Florida Department of Transportation.

In addition to conventional boundary, topographic and construction surveys, we have the experience to provide the latest in 3D Laser Scanning – High Definition Surveying, Geodetic Control, PLSS Retracement, Hydrographic, Cadastral, Photogrammetric Control, Right-of-Way and Construction Surveys. We also have the personnel and equipment to determine tidal datum’s and water boundary lines and can provide expert witness testimony.

Through the utilization of our Global Positioning System, 3D Laser Scanner and total stations with state-of-the-art data collectors, our survey data can be imported into a AutoCAD and/or ESRI ArcGIS environment which can be plotted or transferred to our clients via e-mail or on CD/DVD. Craven Thompson continues to refine and adapt CAD and GIS to a broad spectrum of uses. This blend of high technology with personalized service forms the core of every Craven Thompson project.

CTA provides leadership in the surveying industry by providing educational opportunities to its employees and by supporting the Florida Society of Surveyors and Mappers (FSMS) at both State and Local Chapters. Through our encouragement and training, thirty-three people have become registered while employed by our firm. We have had six Chapter Presidents, three State Presidents and four Directors of the Florida Survey and Mapping Society. Our personnel have served on numerous committees and have been elected Chairmen to twelve major State Committees.
